RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Family and friends are struggling to cope with the death of a Raleigh mother and her four children in a weekend crash along Interstate 95 in Georgia.
Reagan Dougan, 27, and her four children, ranging from 9 years old to just 3 months, were headed from Raleigh to visit Reagan’s husband in Florida when the wreck happened Sunday morning.
“Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces with the devastating loss of Reagan Dougan and her precious four children,” Jonesy CJ wrote on social media about the family and friends of the Dougan family following the deaths.
The two-car crash happened around 6 a.m. along Interstate 95 near exit 67 in McIntosh County, about 35 miles south of Savannah, Georgia.

Dougan’s children were ages 9, 4, 2, and 3 months. The family lived in Raleigh.
“I can’t imagine what her poor husband and family are feeling. My heart is broken — tomorrow is never promised. I just have no words,” wrote Lindsey Marie, who went to high school with Reagan. “Rest in peace, angel. You have NO idea how loved you were by so many.”
Reagan Dougan’s family told CBS 17 she was taking the children to meet up with her husband, Christian Dougan, who was already in Florida visiting friends.
By Monday, a GoFundMe had been created to help support the family. In just 24 hours, it raised more than $30,000 and by Tuesday night was over $50,000.

“So many of my happiest memories are with you. I will never forget all the crazy things we used to get into, you taught me to live unapologetically,” Bailey Joy Sandvall wrote about Reagan Dougan. “You were one of the strongest women I’ve ever known. I will forever love you.”
The wreck happened while the Jeep SUV of the Dougans was traveling south in the left lane, said Georgia State Trooper Christopher Ashdown.
A witness in a car that was passed by the SUV said it was ” traveling at a high rate of speed,” Ashdown said.
The SUV then crashed into the rear of the sedan, with the SUV bursting into flames following the crash, he said.
Video from the scene showed a burned car crashed beside a median guardrail under an overpass. Images indicated a white car stopped in the center lane nearby with heavy rear damage.
