Several states are bracing for heavy ice and snow as weather officials extend warnings through Friday, urging residents to prepare for treacherous conditions.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Ice Storm Warning for four states—Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Oregon—including affected regions within these states. The warning cites dangerous travel conditions and possible power outages through Friday.

According to the NWS, residents should prepare for significant icing, with snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch and ice buildup reaching two-tenths of an inch. Additionally, roads will be extremely slippery, especially during the Thursday morning commute.

Authorities urge residents in affected areas to avoid unnecessary travel, as ice could lead to downed trees and power outages. The warning remains in effect, and officials advise staying informed through official weather updates.
