1999, 1998 & 2000 “Wide AM” Pennies
What to Look For:
- The A and M in “AMERICA” have a noticeable gap.
- Only found in 1999, 1998, or 2000.
Value:
- 1999: $100+
- 1998: $20+
- 2000: $30+
These are rare mistakes. Most pennies from these years have “Close AM.”
1992 “Close AM” Penny
What to Look For:
- The A and M in “AMERICA” are touching.
- Only from the year 1992.
Value:
- No mint mark (Philadelphia): $250–$300
- With “D” mint mark (Denver): $600–$700
Very rare—especially the 1992-D version.
1982-D “Small Date” Copper Penny
What to Look For:
- Weighs 3.1 grams (use a scale).
