Artists On The Outlaw Music Festival Tour Had Their Instruments Damaged In Extreme Weather, Forcing Them To Cancel An Upcoming Concert

Willie Nelson‘s Outlaw Music Festival Tour canceled its July 1 concert, citing “unforeseeable circumstances.”

92-year-old Nelson is touring across the country this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. The tour boasts a packed lineup of superstar performers.

Some of those performers include Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, the Turnpike Troubadors, The Red Clay Strays, and Charles Wesley Godwin.

The tour kicked off on May 13 and will continue through September. Tickets can be purchased on the festival’s official website.

The Outlaw Music Festival planned to take Nelson and the other acts to the Lucky Star Amphitheater in El Reno, Oklahoma, on Tuesday (July 1). However, that concert has since been canceled.

A statement released on Nelson’s official social media pages on Monday (June 30) provided additional context about the “unforeseeable circumstances” that led to the cancellation.

The artists and crew experienced “an extreme weather event” at their June 29 concert in Ridgedale, Missouri. The heavy rains and high winds forced the audience to evacuate.

Tour equipment and some of the artists’ instruments sustained damage and became waterlogged. As a result, their condition was “difficult to assess” in enough time for the July 1 show.

Continuing, the statement read, “The potential damage has halted the festival production as they recover and replace what’s necessary for the tour to resume. The tour looks forward to resuming in Austin on July 4.

Everyone Asks The Same Question: What About Trigger?

After hearing why the Outlaw Music Festival Tour had to cancel its July 1 show, everyone asked the same question: “Did Trigger make it?

Trigger is Willie Nelson’s trusty guitar, which has traveled with him for years. The guitar is so iconic that it has its own Wikipedia page.

As a decades-old guitar, you could say Trigger is not in the best shape. But Nelson doesn’t care. As he once told Texas Monthly:

“Trigger’s like me. Old and beat-up.”

After all the history between Nelson and Trigger, fans were understandably concerned about the guitar’s condition after the recent storm in Missouri. They left comments such as:

“The real question: is Trigger okay?”

“Trigger, if you read this, please let us know you’re OK.”

“THE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW IF TRIGGER IS OKAY THO.”

“Just tell me trigger is okay.”

“This sucks. Hope Trigger is ok!”

“TRIGGER NO.”

So, did Trigger make it? Thankfully, yes!

Nelson’s team left an update in the comments section, writing, “Trigger is marked SAFE from the damage suffered to other instruments and equipment in the MO storm.” Fans breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this news.

The Outlaw Music Festival Tour will resume on July 4. Fans affected by the canceled July 1 show will receive refunds through their point of purchase.
