At Least Two Killed In Coeur d’Alene, Idaho After Shooter Opens Fire

Two individuals believed to be firefighters in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho have been killed and several others injured after being “ambushed” by a shooter.

The firefighters allegedly received a call for an active wildfire when they were attacked by the gunman.

Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris shared during a news conferenced that the crews were still “actively taking sniper fire.”

“We now have two deaths. We have an unknown amount of casualties,” Norris reported. “We still have civilians that are coming off of the mountain. We have, we might have civilians that are stuck or in shock on that mountain. So this is a very, very fresh situation.”

Norris shared that there is no known suspect or suspects at this time and a shelter-in-place has been advised around Canfield Mountain and its surrounding neighborhoods.

Idaho Governor Brad Little Condemns The Attack

Republican Idaho Governor Brad Little commented on the incident, calling the attack a “heinous” assault on firefighters.

“Multiple heroic firefighters were attacked today while responding to a fire in North Idaho. This is a heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters. I ask all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we wait to learn more. Teresa and I are heartbroken,” Little said.
