According to JM Bullion, this penny, produced in a year when the U.S. Mint more than doubled its output from the prior year, is worth $20 in average circulated condition.
However, its value skyrockets to as much as $10,000 for specimens in certified mint state (MS+), according to Coin Trackers.

Notably, 1873 pennies come in two varieties: the “open 3” and “closed 3” styles, both valuable in their own right.
Among these, the Doubled Liberty variety is a standout, with values ranging from $250 to over $10,000 depending on condition. This makes it the second most valuable Indian Head Penny ever issued, according to Coin Trackers.
