Fans have spotted a personal message Cristiano Ronaldo wrote to US President Donald Trump on a signed Portugal shirt.
Ronaldo won the Nations League with Portugal for the first time earlier this month, with Roberto Martinez’s side defeating Spain on penalties in the final.
It is the 40-year-old’s second competitive trophy at international level after Euro 2016, as he prepares to play in his final World Cup at the age of 41 next summer.
He will play out the 2025/26 season with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr after confirming earlier this month that he would continue to play for the club despite his contract expiring this month.
Meanwhile, President Trump signed an executive order earlier this year to re-affirm support for the Club World Cup and the World Cup, both of which the United States are hosting.

Trump will hope that the tournaments will distract some from ongoing unrest in the States, which is revolving around his administration’s recent immigration raids in Los Angeles.
In addition, the President has been criticised for his handling of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
Meanwhile, Trump has been sent a special gift from Ronaldo – a signed Portugal shirt.
The shirt, which Trump held up at the latest G7 event, also features a hand-written message from Ronaldo which reads: “To President Donald J. Trump, playing for peace.”
He was presented with the shirt by Alberto Costa, president of the European Council, in Alberta, Canada.
Upon receiving the signed memorabilia, Trump commented: “Oh, I like that. Playing for peace. That’s great.”
Trump celebrated his 79th birthday on June 14, having been the oldest inaugurated President in the history of the United States earlier this year.
The record of oldest sitting President still belongs to Joe Biden, who was 82 when his four-year stint at the White House ended in January.
